Tomintoul

First Society bottling in 1990.

Built by two Glasgow whisky brokers near the highest village in the Highlands, it is not the highest distillery (Dalwhinnie is). Sold to a Lonhro subsidiary in 1973, it was extended to four stills in 1974. Brent Walker bought the distillery in 1989, and sold it to Gallachers, subsidiary of American Blend. Since 2000, it's been under new ownership of Angus Dundee Distillers.
