Scapa

First Society bottling in 1985.

The other Orkney distillery, which overlooks Scapa Flow, the watery grave of the German High Seas Fleet, was described in 1887 'as one of the most complete in the kingdom', and was one of the most up-to-date of its day. In 1959 the wash still was replaced by a Lomond still. The distillery was mothballed in 1994, but is now back in production
