Established in 1872, Glengyle Distillery re-opened in 2000 after a long chequered past. Located just down the road from Springbank Distillery, Glengyle Distillery produces Kilkerran Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The name originates from the Scots Gaelic ??Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain??, the name of the original settlement where Saint Kerran had his religious cell. Moreover, the choice of this name is aligned with the local whisky traditions, where it is unusual for a malt to be named after a Glen.
Glengyle Distillery prides itself on producing 100% of the whisky in Campbeltown: from the local water source, Crosshill Loch, to the barley and even the bottling, every ingredient is sourced locally and every step of the production process takes place in the Campbeltown region.
