Glendronach

First Society bottling in 1992.

The distillery is located beside the Dronach Burn in the valley of Forgue, in a stand of tall, rook-colonised trees. It was built by a protege of the Duke of Gordons, and it is said that, having been introduced to London society by the Duke, the founder so neglected his duties that his distillery burnt down in 1837! It passed through three owners, then was bought by a younger son of William Grant of Glenfiddich, who sold it to Teachers in 1960. It was the last distillery in Scotland to have coal-fired stills but recently changed to steam.
