Description
“Oranges and lemons say the bells of St Clement’s”, a line from a 17th century children’s’ poem relating to the citrus fruits unloaded at the nearby wharves, came to mind for one panellist. “Maybe they also unloaded pine trees, roses and juniper berries?” was the reply from another. A lemony freshness and sweet creaminess balanced the spices from the botanicals perfectly on the palate neat. Diluted, we prepared a strawberry-lime rickey as we enjoyed the sweet fruity juniper taste with a twist of citrus. The pleasant long finish had plenty of warm spices – perfect for an evening playing gin rummy.
