With seven whiskies entered into the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, The Scotch Malt Whisky has been awarded four Double Gold and three Gold awards. We rounded out the awards with two silver medals for bottlings from our Single Cask Spirits collection.

Our Double Gold award bottlings were single grain bottling Cask No. G1.18: Pyjamas for the soul, Sweet, Fruity & Mellow Speysider Cask No. 9.170: Australian outback, Highland bottling Cask No.112.50: Boozy fruits and tobacco leaf and the Peated bottling from Islay, Cask No. 53.313: Soy gorse.

Our Gold medal winners were a pair of Deep, Rich & Dried Fruits Speysiders in Cask No. 35.247: In a tabanco in Jerez and Cask No. 1.215: Formidable chocolate, along with our Lightly Peated bottling from Islay, Cask No. 29.265: Skippers and kippers.

Our Single Cask Spirits collection rum bottling, Cask No. R12.2: Dreams are made of these – a single cask rum from Belize – also picked up a Silver medal, as did our armagnac Cask No. A5.4: Toasted marshmallows.

Since its introduction in 2000, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world, with a medal award recognised as an indicator of exceptional quality and craftsmanship.

“Picking up seven out of seven Double Gold and Gold medals for each of the whiskies we entered is a fantastic achievement,” said SMWS spirits director Kai Ivalo. “It’s also encouraging to note that with four of these award winners we have carried out some form of additional maturation. We’re constantly working in pursuit of flavour excellence and variety and looking at when and where to use the best quality casks to achieve this.
