First Society bottling in 1993.
The Gaelic name of this distillery means "Black Rock". The distillery was long owned and operated by a woman, Elizabeth Cumming. She negotiated a merger with John Walker & Sons in 1893, and her grandson, Sir Ronald Cumming, became chairman of DCL in 1963. It was one of the first malts to be promoted as a single, and is today among the top ten best sellers in the world. It is also a key malt for the Johnnie Walker blends.
