Bladnoch

First Society bottling in 1987.

The southernmost distillery in Scotland draws its water from the river of the same name. Closed 1938-56, it passed to DCL and was closed again in 1993. It was bought by an Irish builder, Raymond Armstrong, and opened as a heritage centre. Its former owners allowed Mr Armstrong to resume (limited) production in 1997. After another dormant spell, Bladnoch distillery was purchased by Australian entrepreneur David Prior in July 2015 and, in the following November, a new blended malt whisky, named Pure Scot, was launched.
