First Society bottling in 1989.

Said to have been founded in 1790, the present distillery was built in 1872 less than a quarter of a mile from the Dornoch Firth. The buildings reflect both periods and are among the most charming of any distillery. Closed 1915-47; owned by Ballantine's 1970-90 then sold to Inver House.
