Abhainn Dearg

Founded in 2007, Abhainn Dearg Distillery is located near Uig on the Isle of Lewis, making it the most westerly distillery in Scotland.

The distillery draws its water from the stream which tumbles down the Uig Hills, converging into Loch Raonasgail, where it then continues its journey as Abhainn Caslabhat until it reaches the valley. The lower part of the river is known locally as Abhainn Dearg, ??red river?? in English, from which the distillery takes its name.

In 2011, Abhainn Dearg Distillery launched the very first legal single malt produced in the Outer Hebrides: Abhainn Dearg Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
